RATP Smart Systems wins Hanoi city ticketing contract

We have just signed a three-year contract for the design and supply of the ticketing system for Line 3 of the Hanoi Metro. This project is part of Hanoi’s first master plan, which calls for a network of nine metro lines and three monorail lines by 2050. This project responds to sustained demographic growth and the need to develop clean collective mobility. Metro line 3, the “Nhon-Hanoi Station” section, is considered as the pilot line of the metro network. With a length of 12.5 km (8.5 km overhead, 4 km underground), it will be composed of 12 stations (8 overhead stations and 4 underground stations) in its first phase. It will be put into service by 2021 with the first 8 stations, then in 2022 for the 4 underground stations. In a second phase, it will then be extended to reach up to 48 km.


RATP Smart Systems wins a new contract in Mexico City

After the Dominican Republic, Chile and Ecuador, we are continuing our development in Latin America with the award of a contract for Mexico City. We will provide a turnkey ticketing system to the capital, including a central system and the supply of validators to equip the 1000 buses of the public organisation RTP. RATP Smart Systems’ approach to offering open systems, thus avoiding monopolies, was the key to winning this contract.

Ticketing, an integral and fundamental part of MaaS (Mobility as a Service), must combine all mobility services to offer passengers a homogeneous and simple transport offer. Designing or renewing a ticketing system nowadays means choosing between a wide range of technologies, architectures, customer media: NFC or QR code, card-centric or server-centric, prepaid or post-paid are important issues. But experience shows that the real effectiveness of ticketing depends above all on flexibility and the ability to meet new needs over the entire lifetime of the system. Without scalability and flexibility to evolve, ticketing cannot be an effective enforcement tool for mobility policies.

RATP Smart Systems with Viva technology

From 16 to 18 May 2019, the world meeting of innovation and new technologies Viva Technology has resumed its brands at the Porte de Versailles. More than 100,000 visitors and nearly 10,000 start-ups from around the world were present for the fourth edition.

For its 4th participation, the goal of the RATP group was to establish itself as the preferred partner of a smarter and more sustainable city. The Group works with start-ups to improve the service it provides to its customers on a daily basis, to invent new businesses and to transform the way it works. In particular by developing the Group’s innovation thanks to the Urbanopolis Innovation Labs network created within the company last September.

RATP Smart Systems responded to the call by presenting its innovation for the Serre-Chevalier ski resort. Last winter, we installed seven terminals BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) to dematerialize ski titles. More than 500 skiers used this new technology to trigger the mechanical gates with nearly 10,000 passes. The dematerialization of the use and the act of validation of the package without taking out his smartphone is a world first in this area. The mastery of this technology is very promising for the future because it will allow us to gather, on a smartphone, the entire customer experience and customer relationship. The phone will be both the customer relationship tool, the purchasing tool and the mechanical package.


A Full ticketing system for buses in Guadalajara

RATP Smart Systems has just won a contract in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara. RATP Smart Systems will provide a full ticketing system including e-Fareboxes in 300 buses, which will allow on-board payment through contactless card validation or by cash with possible change being given back. This system is expected to significantly reduce fraud while providing the user with greater ease of payment. Eventually, the project will be deployed on 1200 buses. Guadalajara is the third largest metropolis in Mexico with a population of just under 5 million.

Cable car is in the air in Guayaquil

RATP Smart Systems wins a new contract in Guayaquil to provide the future cable car with a full ticketing system. Guayaquil, the economic capital of Ecuador is its largest city and is home to the largest harbour on the west coast of Latin America. Nicknamed the “Pearl of the Pacific”, it has 2.3 million inhabitants.

The cable car between Durán and Guayaquil will divide the daily travel time of 230,000 inhabitants by four. The line will connect the economic heart of Guayaquil to the residential area of Durán in 15 minutes (compared to one hour at rush hour currently). With this contract, RATP Smart Systems strengthens its presence in the region and will support the improvement of the mobility of the inhabitants of Guayaquil.

How to better combat fraud ?

Fraud represents a high cost for transport networks. With this in mind, RATP Smart Systems has developed a public transport fraud and ridership analysis tool that compiles millions of validation data. Urban Flows helps maximize passenger revenue and fine collection revenue through the analysis of centralized databases and through the identification of time and location dependent fraud patterns. These data are critical to help fighting fraud in public transport. Transport Operators and Authorities can thus have detailed information on passenger traffic.

Publication of the 2017 activity report

The year 2017 was marked by an acceleration of our commercial development, which allows us to continue a sustained growth. The company is continuing its efforts in 2017 with a 14% increase in turnover. With an investment plan of 6 million euros, innovation has come to prominence with a specific focus on Big Data and the dematerialization of transport tickets. The year 2018 will also be marked by innovation, which remains one of our priorities. In the field of passenger information, we work on indoor / outdoor guidance based on virtual reality and augmented reality. In 2017, we joined RATP group’s corporate social responsibility approach with a focus on the well-being of employees.
